Deck building 101

Building a successful deck in the Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG) requires a combination of strategic planning, understanding of the game mechanics, and a good knowledge of the current meta. Here are some general steps to help you build a strong deck:

  1. Choose a strategy: Decide on a central strategy for your deck. This could be focused on attacking quickly, controlling the board, or disrupting your opponent's plans. It's important to have a clear goal in mind when building your deck.

  2. Choose your type: Choose the type of Pokemon you want to build your deck around. Each type has its own strengths and weaknesses, so it's important to choose one that complements your strategy.

  3. Choose your Pokemon: Select a group of Pokemon that work well together and complement your strategy. Consider their type, HP, attacks, and abilities.

  4. Choose your Trainers and Supporters: Choose Trainers and Supporters that will help you achieve your strategy. This can include cards that help you draw more cards, search for specific cards, or manipulate energy.

  5. Choose your Energy cards: Choose Energy cards that match your Pokemon's type and consider the ratio of basic and special energy cards you want to include.

  6. Test and refine your deck: Playtest your deck against other decks and refine it based on the results. Consider making changes to your Pokemon lineup, Trainer and Supporter cards, and Energy cards to improve your deck's consistency and effectiveness.

Remember, building a successful deck takes practice, patience, and adaptation to the ever-evolving meta of the Pokemon TCG.
